The Handmaid’s Tale Re-issue 2017 Folio Society!

The Folio Society has reissued the 2012 multi award-winning edition of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel The Handmaid’s Tale. This volume contains our seven artwork and our cover design. AWARD OF EXCELLENCE 2017 CA 58: Twelfth Night

We submitted the cover and frontispiece illustrations of “Twelfth Night" with the photos of the actual book as a series, we won THE AWARD OF EXCELLENCE COMMUNICATION ARTS ILLUSTRATION ANNUAL 58, Books-series category. Our entries has been selected by the 2017 jury to appear in Illustration Annual 58, the May/June 2017 issue of Communication Arts. We want to thanks the CA jury and The Folio Society for this wonderful project! Since 11 years (2017-2017) we have received 16 Awards of Excellence from Communication Arts Illustration Annual 48-58
. Twelfth Night, or What You Will, a comedy by William Shakespeare, The play centres on the twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck.


Balbusso mentioned by the Norman Rockwell Museum USA

The Norman Rockwell Museum (Stockbridge, USA) introduced a new illustration history which provides an rich resource for fans, collectors, and scholars. Anna and Elena Balbusso name has been mentioned among the illustrators of The Decade 2010-present ( section: Time Periods page 2). There is also our illustration, The Witch of Duva ( It is a great honor, Thank you so much! The website includes capsule summaries of each period of illustration, starting in the Paleolithic, and going all the way through the 20th century decade by decade. Some of the major names in illustration are featured with bios and sample images. There's also a growing collection of essays which will be written by museum staff and scholars of illustration around the world. Our illustrations for the story “Dr. Jerome” , Santa Clara Magazine spring 2016  have just been honored with a CASE Gold Medal for Best Illustration by one of the top university magazine award programs in the country:  the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). We are very honored and proud of this prestigious award. We thank everyone who voted for us! Thank you Pentagram Design, Santa Clara Magazine for this beautiful Project! The competition includes magazines from California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii. The awards will be presented in March in San Diego.

Our art “The bood of Eden” best in this year's Members Show “Drawn to the Music”, Society of Illustrators, New York City.The Stevan Dohanos Award, named in honor of the Federal office muralist and American painter, honors the best piece in the show. We join a list of wonderful illustrators from the past years: Leigh Grant, Ted Lewin, James Bennett, Lisa Falkenstern, Rafal Olbinski, Robert E. McGinnis, Al Lorenz, Jonathan Bouw,Jerry Pinkney, Gregory Manchess, Kam Mak, Joe Ciardiello, Mark Stutzman, Chad Wallace, Stephen Gardner, Guy Billout, Jason Raish, Stephen Kroninger, Bil Donovan, Anna and Elena Balbusso. Our piece was chosen by 4 jurors, 3 that have won this award in the past, one juror who is in the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame. Our art “The Blood of Eden” is our free interpretation of the line from the lyrics of the song: Peter Gabriel - Blood of eden (Peter Gabriel's 1992 album. Thank you so much to the Curator Leslie Cober-Gentry and to the Society of Illustrators's Jury. We are so honored and grateful to receive this Award!
